My Story
Hi, I'm Judy. I am an Irish jewellery designer and maker. I have always loved art, being creative, and I have always had an interest in jewellery. Growing up, I loved going to markets and looking at all the different makers and their styles.
I joined an evening jewellery making class in 2018, nothing with jewellery happened after that. I had plans to move to Australia, so that's what I did. Making jewellery would come into my mind often while I was travelling around. In 2022, I rented an apartment in Sydney and bought a starter kit with some basic silversmithing tools. From there, I relearned how to solder and make basic designs. The learning was very slow, and my skill level didn't match my design ideas, so it was hard to bring my designs to life.
I really loved the fact that you could visibly see the result of your efforts. If I put in the hours of practice, I could eventually create my designs, and better again, I got to wear them. That was very rewarding, and that feeling of finishing a design that I love and I am proud of has never left me. I get the same satisfaction to this day.
I have learnt a lot from the challenges that acquiring a new skill throws at you. I've learnt the importance of patience and perseverance, but also of taking breaks, that good things take time and space to come to life.
Creativity is a form of connection for me, a way to connect back to myself. I hope that's the feeling you get when you wear my designs, a feeling of being yourself completely and giving yourself permission to show up as you are in all that you do. Allowing yourself the time to slow down and to connect with that knowing and that confidence within.
(For now) I am based in Vancouver and I work from my home studio. I have moved from Australia back to Ireland and now here, moving my studio with me place to place. I am so grateful and thankful for everyone who has supported me along the way and I can't wait to create so many more designs with you.
